Scottish influences are visible throughout the Pub – in the menu, the décor and even a Scotsman features in the logo. This heritage harks back to early 1925 when the building had just been completed for the visit of His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales. At this time, the owner of the Hotel was sergeant Major Dunn of the Highlander Regiment.
Through the years, ownership has changed and in 2015 Martin and Linda Bekker started their journey with the building, adding on a modern wing, breakfast room and conference and events centre, making the Royal St. Andrews Hotel the modern and luxurious hotel it is today.
Difford Louw, General Manager of the Hotel.
As a go-to destination for holiday makers visiting our special part of the Sunshine Coast, the Highlander offers a selection of meals to cure any craving. The newly launched menu comes just in time for the busiest season of the year, when visitors from across South Africa, and abroad, descend on Port Alfred to enjoy the Blue Flag beaches, river adventures and general feeling of seaside relaxation.
The new menu creates a journey for each visitor, keeping the ‘old favourites’ and adding in a few surprises such as a ‘Build your own Basket’ option. Here you can add crumbed mushrooms to peri peri chicken wings and Jalapeno riossoles – the choice is yours! Even the kids are catered for in The Small Fry section – see below for the full menu.
