In a partnership with The Little Brewery in Port Alfred, we are raising funds for rhino conservation each time a glass of Highlander Lager is purchased at the Highlander Pub. Thirsty beer lovers contributed over R6 500 to rhino conservation in the first eight months of the fundraiser. “For every 500 ml of Highlander Lager sold in the Highlander Pub, the Little Brewery on the River and the Hotel each donate a rand to the Wilderness Foundation of South Africa,” said Wessel Benson, General Manager at Royal St Andrews Hotel.
According to Andrew Muir, chief executive officer of the Wilderness Foundation, the benefit of the partnership lies in more than the money contributed to the foundation’s rhino conservation efforts. “Apart from the funds raised for conservation, with initiatives of this nature the key word is awareness and getting these issues into the public domain,” he says.
“A very big ‘thank you’ must go to Ian Cook and the Little Brewery for their support of the fund-raising drive,” says Benson. Information on the scourge of rhino poaching is available in the pub, with the current fund-raising drive continuing until March 2018.
